Supai 2008

I blogged a while ago about how last Spring CK and Rojita went with a group from Rojita's school on a trip to Havasupai down in the Grand Canyon. Well, yesterday we finally picked up the pictures of their trip. The group took along a professional photographer who put together a CD of pictures and since Rojita changed school we finally made time to go get them. They are amazing! These pictures were all taken during the time they were there. You almost need to click on them to get a nice up close look at their beauty.

These two are pictures of, I think, Mooney Falls.

This is Havasui Falls...

This is Rojita playing Tarzan...

They did tons of hiking, which I'm so sad that I missed out on. (That was a joke.)

Some of the men that went as guides, which were mostly teachers and administrators who have been going for many, many years, knew the "sweet spot" for cliff jumping. A bunch of looney's if you ask me.

Here are two of the most gorgeous shots taken. No wonder this is such a looked forward to trip.

The photographer stayed up most of the night to get this shot of the movement of the stars across the sky. Notice Alfed Hitchcock's profile.

The school has been doing this trip for about 25-ish years now. The main teacher who plans this trip every year retired at the end of last year's school year, but I hear they are still going to keep going. It's a great incentive for the kids to keep their citizenship grades high. If you ask Rojita, it was worth keeping her at that school for that year just for the trip!

What a beautiful place! We should go sometime and .... not hike. And, how exactly does one stay up all night to get a picture like that. It is pictures like that that make me realize I know nothing about photography. But oh, I'd like to.

Love the picture memories!! The neat thing is that having had all four of my kids go to Havasupi I think that everyone's pictures are the same. Really though it's probably one of the prettiest places on earth. So do you look at the pictures, and hear the experiences and wish that you had gone?
Not me, just loved being a spectator.
Thanks for bringing back such fun memories!!!!!

You have to keep the shutter open on your camera while keeping the camera extremely still, in order to get the camera to take a picture that looks like the stars are moving. (FYI, not that I've ever done it, or ever will.)

Nope, not sorry that I didn't go. Sometimes it's a lot more pleasant to live vicariously!

Very beautiful pictures! I need a nap just from looking at the people hiking. But I could look at the scenery pictures all day.

Oh my goodness! Those pictures are beautiful! When I went the falls didn't look like. It was a drought year. How awesome!

Heather those pictures are so pretty, they almost look like paintings. I'd love to see the falls in person. Thanks for sharing!!
